Which metal is best for me?
Want to order a necklace, but aren't sure which metal is best for you? Read below to find out more about gold filled vs. gold plated.
Gold filled: Gold filled is an actual layer of gold-pressure bonded to another metal. Gold filled is not to be confused with gold plating as filled literally has 100% more gold then plated jewelry. Gold filled is more valuable and tarnish resistant. It does not flake off, rub off, or turn colors. Have allergic reactions to metal? You can wear gold filled without worry of reaction to the jewelry. It is also a great economical alternative to solid gold.
Gold plated: Plated jewelry is a wonderful, affordable option to shop for jewelry and makes a great option for gifting. With the look of real gold it adds sparkle to any outfit for any occasion. Bars and charms are brass dipped 16k gold. Metal is hardy, but can show wear and tear over time. Not recommended for 24/7 wear and should be stored in a cool dry place. Remember to remove before showering and swimming. Plating can also be sensitive to some perfumes, lotions and oils.
